FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1.Is youth tackle football safe?
Tackle football is a physical sport. With that, we are the league leading organization teaching the fundamentals of safety with all aspects of the game of football. The main reason for our 3 week Fall Camp is to train our athletes to be mentally and physically ready to play the game. Additionally, we have dedicated Player Safety Champions who are the players advocates when in a game or at practice. They have the last word to keep our players safe at all times.
2. What does the Southern Marin Broncos do to make tackle football safe?
It all stars with training all of our coaches with the most up to date techniques. Next, we apply hours of practice to prepare and develop our players to play the game with safety as the main priority. Full contact is limited to 20 minutes per practice.
3. When does Fall Camp start?
2025 Fall Camp starts Monday, August 1st, 4:45 pm at the Mill Valley Community Center located at 180 Camino Alto in Mill Valley.
4. Why do you practice 5 days a week for the first 3 weeks of Fall Camp?
With safety being our number one priority, August conditioning and practice is an essential part of football programs everywhere, at every level. We recognize that families often schedule vacation time in August and scheduling around football can be tough but it is a necessary need to get our athletes ready for their first game. Beyond this, California State law (AB-1) requires each player to have a minimum number of practice hours under his/her belt before he/she can be certified for contact football.
5. Can I miss some of Fall Camp?
NO! Again, with safety being our number one priority, attendance to camp is mandatory. This time is needed for player safety, development (physical, intellectual, and emotional), and team development. The Broncos reserve the right to vacate roster spots for players who miss 1 day of camp practice.
6. How long is the football season?
The season is an 8 game schedule with games typically on Sundays. Teams that make the playoffs can play an additional 1-4 games. Playoffs can last through the first week of December and include travel outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. WE DO PLAY ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND. We expect that each player is COMMITTED to the Broncos season through the end of the playoffs.
7. Who do you play?
We play teams across the Bay Area - potentially from the East Bay, Peninsula, San Jose, to Santa Cruz.
8. What teams does the Broncos have?
We currently have an 8u, 10u, 11u, 12u, and 13u teams. Register quick as teams will fill up and there will be waiting lists.

During the season, the Broncos practice 3 days a week at Redwood High School.
10. Where are home games played?
The Broncos home field is at Redwood High School in Larkspur, California.
11. Have Broncos gone to college to play tackle football?
Yes! We have numerous players continue to play at the next level of D1 and D3 collegiate football. We are also THE Marin County tackle football organization to get your child prepared to play at the high school level. If he/she has dreams of Friday night lights get them playing earlier rather than later!
12. Why do you need my child's school report card?
The responsibility of playing the Broncos happens both on and off the field. All athletes must maintain a B average or above in addition to being a respectful student. Any misbehavior or slipping grades will impact playing time.
13. Is there anything I can do to help as a parent?
YES!! We are a 100% volunteer run organization. We are always looking for parents to step up to continue the legacy that is the Southern Marin Broncos! Whether it's selling tickets at the entrance, helping be part of the chain gang or being the MPR (Minimum Plays Required), we can always use a helping hand.
